Gene Edward Hoagland, 90, of Staunton, Virginia passed away on February 23, 2013.

He was born January 24, 1923 in Prattsville, New York to Guy and Florence (Stickles) Hoagland.

Staff Sergeant Hoagland, Army Corps of Engineers, 82nd Engineering Combat Battalion, US. Army, was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in England, France and Germay from 1944-1945. He also received the Purple Heart Medal. Gene will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter Fran Callahan and husband Joe; his daughter Ruth Hall and husband Blair; three granddaughters, Trisha, Jenny, Emily; four great-grandsons, many nieces, nephews and other family.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
