Watertown- Beverly Ruth Jones Beck. 83, Town of Watertown, died Monday afternoon, February 25, 2013 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY after a brief illness.
She was born on July 17, 1929 at Mercy Hospital in Watertown, to the late Willard H. Jones and Dora Adele Clement Jones. Beverly attended Academy Street Elementary School and South Junior High School, graduating from Watertown High School in 1947. She worked for the New York Telephone company for 23 years between 1949 and 1984, taking time out to raise her family. She was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and an active member in the local chapter until her mobility declined in 2011. In 2012 Beverly moved from her beloved farm on the VanAllen Road to the Wynwood Senior Living facility in Niskayuna, NY, to be near her family.
She grew up attending Asbury Methodist Church. On May 29, 1954 Beverly married Curtis A Beck in a private ceremony in the rectory of the Holy Family Church. She is survived by her son and his wife, Curt and Tracy Beck, Scotia NY, her daughter and her husband, Rosemarie and Andy Greulich, Altmar NY and four grandchildren, Curtis and Daniel Beck and Hanna and Emma Greulich. Three nieces and a nephew, Peggy (Jones) Barter, Catherine Jones-Brimmer, Donald Jones and Mary Jones; and many grand-nieces and nephews and their children. She is predeceased by her husband and her brothers Willard and Richard.
At Beverlys request a memorial service will be held graveside this spring at the Dexter Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Cleveland Funeral Home, Sherman Street, Watertown. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
