Massena: James Howard Robert, 69, of Stuarts Draft, VA, passed Friday February 22, 2013. He was born August 9, 1943, in Malone, New York, a son of Norman and Mildred (Langolis) Robert. James was a member of St. Johns the Evangelist Catholic Church for eight years in Virginia. He had retired from Alcoa where he was an Environmental Technician. He was a Vietnam veteran with the Army Medical Corps. He was a member of American Legion Post #340; and life member of AMVETS Post #4 of Massena New York and a past-commander of CAVRA. James “Jim” was an avid outdoors man. He actively enjoyed the land of our beautiful country and raised his family to also appreciate the gifts of nature. When he was not headed to hunting camp with his brothers you could often find him with a fishing line in the water somewhere between St. Lawrence and Franklin Counties. You can also bet if he didn’t come back with a catch he always came back with a story. His undying pride for our land will never be forgotten. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, James “Jamie” Donald Robert, and brothers David, Gary, and Michael “Mickey” Robert. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Bonnie Day Robert: daughters Tammi Robert-Shook and Kimberley Bradley and her husband, Michael: sisters Shirley Robert and Bernice Champagne and her husband Doug: grandchildren Jack and Gracie Shook and Noah and Chandler Bradley; nieces and nephews. A funeral mass was celebrated on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at St. Johns the Evangelist Catholic Church in Waynesboro, Virginia with honors conducted by American Legion Post #340. A Wake service will be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews Street, Massena. Memorial Contributions may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation. Online condolences may be made to www.phillipsmemorial.com.
