James P. Salter, 81, of Parish, N.Y., died at home with his loving family by his side, after a long battle of Dementia. He was born August 25, 1931, in Watertown, N.Y., the son of Leta and Albert Stanley Salter.
He served in the Army in the 2nd Infantry Division (Indian Head) during the Korean War. He was employed by Conrail Railroad for over 30 years, where he met his loving wife Sharon of 24 years. He retired to their home in Parish where he loved to garden and ride around on his John Deere Tractor, spending time with his loving family. He was predeceased by his first wife, Janette (Hughes), 4 brothers, 3 sisters and a stepson Robert Meredith.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; son, T. Michael Salter; stepdaughter, Mindy Meredith; two sisters, Alice Walker and Beverly Shaw; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date to be announced.
