Anthony J. Holmes, 34, of 206 Franklin St., Apt. 113, was charged by Watertown police Saturday night at his residence with two counts of first-degree criminal contempt and one count each of first-degree menacing and second-degree harassment.
Police said Mr. Holmes threatened Pearl A. Hunt, 201 Sterling St., Apt. 6, with a folding knife that he pointed at her throat at her apartment early Saturday. He also is accused of violating the terms of an order of protection when he grabbed and punched Ms. Hunt during the incident, police said.
The two counts of criminal contempt and menacing are felony offenses, while the harassment charge is a misdemeanor. Police said Mr. Holmes was convicted of second-degree menacing in 2002 in Jefferson County Court.
He was being held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment in City Court.
