POTSDAM The village Board of Trustees approved the purchase of a final piece of equipment for the often-delayed West Dam hydroelectric plant.
The parts for the switch gear will cost $18,910. The switch allows the plant to be disconnected from the main power grid in an emergency.
The purchase is a sign the interconnection agreement between the village and National Grid is nearly complete.
It will take about two months to install the equipment and power should be ready to flow by late spring or early summer, according to village Administrator David H. Fenton.
There is no reason why it shouldnt be done this year, but weve said that before, he said.
