PETIT LARCENY - POTSDAM - Canton-based state police charged Benjamin B. Cheney, 19, of Jordan and Joseph A. Bastiaanse, 18, of Grnby, Conn., with petit larceny following a shoplifting complaint at 5:36 p.m. Thursday from Wal-Mart in the town of Potsdam. Cheney was also charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
