State police are involved in a police chase in the town of Champion following what began as a routine traffic stop, a Jefferson County dispatcher confirmed.

It began shortly before 4 p.m. and involved several troopers and patrol cars, according to the police scanner. It eventually turned into a foot chase. The dispatcher could not provide any more details.
