MALONE - A 17-year-old Malone teen was jailed on multiple counts after two runaways from Saranac Lake were found on Thursday hiding in a crawl space in his residence at 76 Pearl St.
Malone Village Police charged Kyle J. Proper with three counts each of sexual misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned by Malone Town Justice Michael Lamitie and sent to the Franklin County Jail with bail set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond. Troopers later charged him with one count of second-degree obstructing governmental administration.
Malone Village Police Chief Christopher Premo said the sex and endangerment charges stem from him having sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 17 during the week of March 1.
All of the charges lodged against him are misdemeanors and carry a maximum penalty of a year in county jail.
