AMHERST - The Tri-Town Pee Wees advanced to the crossover semi-final round in the New York state Tier III U12 tournament with an unblemished record after opening play with two solid wins and a victory over a quality opponent from Central New York.

They will face Batavia-Genessee with the winner advancing to skate for the Tier III U12 New York state crown.

Tri-Town 4 Onondaga 3: Tri-Town trailed for the first time in the tournament but bounced back from 1-0 and 3-1 deficits to remain undefeated. Wyatte Roberts tied the game at 1-1 on a feed from Drew Rose with 8 seconds left in the first period. Onondaga scored the first two goals of the second period before the Timberwolves mounted their comeback effort.

Andrew Lantry cut the deficit to 3-2 with a goal at the 12:13 mark of the second period with assists handed out to Drew Rose and Noah Adams, Eli Kocsis tied the game at 3-3 on a goal set up by Will Arquiett and Lantry 2:48 into the third period, and 5:34 into the period Rose scored the game winner for Tri-Town. Arquiett and Lantry were credited with their second assists of the game.

Tri-Town 6 Niagara County Coyotes 1: The Timberwolves set the tone with four goals in the opening period and sanwiched singletons in the second and third periods around a Coyotes goal scored with 8 seconds left in period number two.

Will Arquiett (2 goals, 2 assists) and Andrew Lantry (1 goal, 2 assists) paced the Tri-Town offense. Wyatte Roberts had given his team an early lead 53 seconds, and the Timberwolves also had single tallies by Colby Jenkinson and Drew Rose. Payton Felix and Kaleb Rathbun were credited with assists on the Jenkinson goal.

Tri-Town 7 Palisades Predators 1. Defenseman Drew Rose netted a hat trick and dished out three assists in a night outing that saw Tri-Town grow a 1-0 lead after one to a 5-0 margin after two and score the game’s first seven goals. Will Arquiett added two goals for the Timberwolves and Payton Felix and Sam Lyon scored solo markers. Andrew Lantry chipped in with two assists. A scry moment occurred in the game’s early minutes when a shot from the blueline struck the Palisades goalie in the neck.

Rico Dimatteo has been between the pipes for all three opening round games.

Bantams

Tri-Town 1 Bedford 1: The Tri-Town Bantams opened state play with a 1-1 tie against the Bedford Bears in the Tier III U14 state tournament. Luke Collins scored the Timberwolves goal on a play set up by Haydn St. Hilaire and Billy Bergen.

East Aurora 5 Tri-Town 2: East Aurora broke a scoreless tie with two goals in the second period, but Billy Bergen cut the lead in half when Tri-Town opened the scoring in the third period. Haydn St. Hilaire was credited with an assist. But East Aurora rebounded with the next two goals before Ian Bressett made it 4-2 on a goal drawing assists from Owen Kowalchuk and Mark Crump with 8 seconds left in regulation. East Aurora rounded out the scoring in the game’s final second.

Valley 6 Tri-Town 4. Tri-Town battled back from a 6-1 deficit after two periods to make it respectable with their opponent scoring three goals in each of the first two periods.

Luke Collins, Ian Bressett and Haydn St. Hilaire paced the Tri-Town offense with a goal and an assist. Jordan Tishberg also scored for Tri-Town, and Billy Bergen, Mark Crump, Jeffery Geurard and Jack Pullano each had one assist.

Goalie Bransen Kinnear played all three games for Tri-Town.
