When I could no longer care for my husband, Earl Remington, at home, we had to check out other sources. I want to share how much support is offered in the Jefferson County health system.
From ambulance service to the burial planners, people have shown compassion and concern. After hospitalization in Samaritan Medical Center, he required adult home care. With help from Tim Cole, Angels Inn was selected. At Angels Inn we discovered wonderful friends in Mary Allen and her staff truly angels!
Those assisting Earl were: Penny, Sue, Connie (Vickie), Wanda, Rose, Emmalinda (the cook), Marife and Sharon. I apologize if anyone is omitted. He was a resident 5½ months, and the last days were difficult for the girls.
Also, public health nurses were of great benefit for special treatments. Caregivers were very nice but unable to cope with his condition.
He re-entered SMC and from there was transferred to Hospice of Jefferson County. Hospice house proved to be a beautiful environment of comfort and solace. I dare not mention names as there were so many staff members introduced in just a short time, who were most attentive. Earl passed away Feb. 21 under their loving care. Our daughter was with me at his bedside.
Dr. Rhode and his office personnel deserve many thanks for their interest in our well-being.
Our family is very supportive, especially those in the area: Cheryl, Gene, Aaron and Monika. Without them I could not manage the situation as well. I count my blessings and am grateful for the health care providers.
