DANNEMORA- Wendell W. Lashua passed away Tuesday,Feb. 26, 2013, at the age of 74 with his loving family byhis side. He was born May 15, 1938, the son of Walter andBeulah Lashua in Star Lake, N.Y. He married his high schoolsweetheart, Elizabeth Doran, in 1958. They lived in Star Lakeuntil 1962, when they moved to Dannemora.
Wendell retired from Clinton Correctional Facility in 2000.His favorite pastime was helping others and doing odd jobswith family and friends. He was also a proud member of theCumberland Bay Chorus, active in the Twin Palms VespersChoir, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and wintering in Florida.
He once sang with Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians.Wendell is survived by his wife of 55 years, ElizabethLashua; five children, Michelle and Gregory Beaulieu ofSherwood, Wis., Michael and Rebecca Lashua of Dannemora,Mark and Barb Lashua of Heuvelton, Marilyn Daley ofFairhaven, Vt., and Melissa and Robert Goddeau Jr. of Peru;17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived
by four brothers and one sister. He was predeceased byhis mother, father and one brother.
Wendell believed in the importance of being a good man.He knew the impact that a smile and kindness could have onthose around him, be it family or strangers. He lived with thementality that a person should give the shirt off of their backfor friends in need, and led by example. He believed in honesty,hard work and helping those around him simply becauseit is the right thing to do. We are sad to say goodbye and honoredto say he was our son, husband, father, pops, or brother.
No public calling hours will be held. A memorial service willbe done at the convenience of the family.
