Police seek information for Potsdam fraternity sexual assault investigation

POTSDAM — SUNY Potsdam police are seeking public assistance as they investigate a sexual assault which allegedly occurred at a Potsdam fraternity house this weekend.

Dean of Students William G. Morris notified students of the investigation in a campus alert sent by e-mail Tuesday evening.

“According to the police report, a female SUNY Potsdam student was invited to an off-campus fraternity house this weekend, where a male is alleged to have forcibly sexually assaulted her,” he wrote. “At this time, we have very little direct information to include not knowing if this was a recognized or unrecognized organization.”

University Police declined to share any information about the investigation Wednesday morning. A Potsdam Village Police investigator responsible for the case was not immediately available for comment.

Information about the alleged assault should be reported to Lt. Mark R. Murray of the Potsdam Village Police, at 265-2121.
