Henderson- Martin R. Burdick, 52, Whitney Rd., Henderson, passed away Tuesday, March 12th at his home surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.
The funeral will be 11am Saturday, March 16th at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville. Spring burial will be in St. Cecilias Cemetery, Nohle Rd., Town of Henderson. Calling hours are Friday, March 15th from 5 pm – 8 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to a fund established for Martys children, Olivia and Haiden, c/o Watertown Savings Bank, 10729 US Rt 11, Adams, NY 13605.Marty was born in Adams, a son to Richard J. and Carolyn Martin Burdick. He was educated in Henderson schools. Marty went into business with his father Richard, in Burdick Construction, taking over the business in 1990 when his Dad passed away. The business transformed in to M.R. Burdick Enterprises, of which he was currently the owner and operator. Marty and Carol also own the Mollys Trolley, Henderson and Pennocks, Sackets Harbor, ice cream stands.
A racing enthusiast, Marty owned several big block modified stock cars, racing in New York, Pennsylvania, Florida and Maryland. He also sponsored several race teams throughout the northeast. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, boating, and enjoyed raising horses, dogs and cats.
Marty is survived by his lifelong companion, Carol Shattuck, Henderson. His daughter, Olivia and son Haiden, Henderson. A sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Al Parker, Adams Center. His niece Carrie (Roma) Miller, and a nephew and great nephew, Bryan (Danielle) Parker and their son Riley, all of Watertown.
