Concetta “Nettie” Battista, beloved mother, grandmother, wife and sister passed away on March 13, 2013 at Samaritan Keep Home surrounded by her family.

Daughter of Antonio and Francesca Villa Doldo, she attended Watertown schools and married Frank M. Battista from East Harlem, NY at St. Anthony’s Church in Watertown on November 25, 1941. She lived at 510 Coffeen Street all her married life.

She was devoted to her family and friends. She loved to cook, sew, knit and crochet and was an avid reader. Each family member cherishes something that she made. Her recipes are family favorites.

Concetta was preceded in death by her husband, Frank M. Battista, her brothers, Joseph and Vincenzo Doldo and infant son, Philip Charles.

Surviving children are three daughters: Jeanne Monteau and her husband Terry of Rensselaer, NY; Fran O’Sullivan and her husband Brian of Randolph, NJ; Rosemarie Battista of Watertown, NY and five sons: Vincent Battista and his wife Linda of St. Johns, FL; John Battista of Rochester, NY; Joseph Battista of Homer, NY; Patrick Battista of Watertown, NY; Frank L. Battista and his wife Debbie of Watertown, NY. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, 135 Keyes Avenue, Watertown, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 17, 2013. A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church 10:00 on Monday, March 18, with Reverend Donald Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Watertown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Patrick’s Church, 123 S. Massey St. Watertown, NY 13601. The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff in the PCU Unit of Samaritan Medical Center for their extraordinary care of our mother and to the staff and friends at Whispering Pines and Samaritan Keep Home for their care and kindness.
