The Ogdensburg International Airport is finishing up another record year.

Entering March, the last month of the Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority’s fiscal year, 9,442 passengers had traveled through the airport, 2,454 more than the 6,988 passengers who used the airport during the same period last year — a 35 percent increase.

In other positive news for the port authority, the airport has increased its sale of airplane fuel from 17,045 gallons last year to 26,590 gallons this year, a 9,545-gallon or 56 percent rise.

In February, the facility served 666 passengers, up from 608 in February 2012.

“There were a couple of days where there weren’t any flights, so that number is significant,” said Frederick S. Morrill, authority deputy director.

The authority is eager to see how a new downtown ticket office, opened by commercial carrier Cape Air of Barnstable, Mass., affects its passenger numbers.

“It will be interesting to see if the downtown office will increase ticket sales,” said Wade A. Davis, OBPA executive director.

At stake is $1 million in FAA funding available to airports that board more than 10,000 passengers annually.
