WELLESLEY ISLAND — Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jonathan Castro, Wellesley Island, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise party March 8.

Mr. Castro, son of the late Cecil Ygnacio and Maebelle (Holz) Castro, married Sharon Anne Hutchison, daughter of the late James Vincent and Ruby Maxine (Lynch) Hutchison, on March 15, 1963, in New Orleans with the Rev. Herbert Polinard officiating.

Mr. Castro graduated from San Jose (Calif.) State College, City College of San Francisco (Calif.) and California State University, Sacramento, Calif. He worked in the hospitality profession in California, New Orleans and New York. Mr. Castro is a member of the Food Service Executives Association and Thousand Island Chefs’ Association. He enjoys antiquing, restoring vintage cars, traveling, water sports, gardening and landscaping.

Mrs. Castro graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and Stanford University, Palo Alto, Calif. She was employed in advertising and the antiques trade. Mrs. Castro was a member of several organizations for advertising, antiques and education. She enjoys tennis, antiques and travel.

The couple has four children, Mark David, Fairfax, Vt., Keith Parker, Plattsburgh, Chrysann Janell Barker, Morristown, and Kevin Jonathan, Berkley, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.
