The North Country Arts Council will host an opening reception for its third annual Muse exhibit and performance evening on March 23.
The event, from 6 to 9 p.m., also will celebrate the second anniversary of Arts on the Square, 52 Public Square, home to the organizations gallery for north country artists, offices and educational studios.
The evening will showcase the interpretive works of more than 30 artists who have created original visual and performance art based on four feature artists also known as the Muses. The evening will include dance, music, visual art, video, audience participation segments and literature.
The featured Muses are: pop artist Eugenia Mancini Horan; a song performed by Annette Miller and written by Grammy award-nominated song writer John Elwood Cook; nationally touring slam Poet Jared Paul and a dynamic routine by performance art troupe Fire Magick.
The event is open to the public with a suggested donation of $5. Light refreshments will be offered. Muse artwork and original written works will continue to be on exhibit at Arts on the Square from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting March 27 and running through April 20.
