CARTHAGE — During its March 4 meeting, the village Board of Trustees considered a financial request, settled a grant refund request and set a budget meeting.

The estate of Sigrid DeRosia had requested lenience in the repayment of a Community Development Block Grant. Mrs. DeRosia had received financing, of which $37,620 was due at the time of her death in February.

The property, assessed at $120,000, was sold at auction, reaping $65,000 after concession.

According to CDBG regulations, a fund recipient must reside in the property for at least five years; however, Mrs. DeRosia died before the full period of time had passed.

After considering a recommendation by the CDBG review committee, the Board of Trustees decided to waive $17,620 of the debt.

Oliver Compo, fundraising chairman for the Carthage Bears Pop Warner football/cheer program, wrote to the village requesting financial support for that youth organization.

After discussion, the consensus was to entertain the request as a budget item.

Trustees had no objection to renewal of an alcoholic beverage license for Deep Pockets LLC, commonly known as the Tavern on West End Avenue.

Village officials set a meeting to review 2013-14 department budgets for 6 p.m. Wednesday.
