Harley L. Fisk, 47, Warrensburg, was taken by helicopter to Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington, Vt., after a snowmobile accident at 1:47 p.m. Sunday in the town of Clare.
The St. Lawrence County Sheriffs Department said Mr. Fisk was riding on a trail when his snowmobile overturned and he was ejected. Members of the Sheriffs Department Snowmobile Patrol, the Degrasse, Clare and South Russell Fire Department, Russell Rescue and Canton Fire and Rescue responded to the scene.
Ambulances could not get onto the trail, so all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles were sent to rescue Mr. Fisk, who was found lying in a pool of water, awake and complaining of pain. He also was slightly hypothermic, according to scanner reports from the scene.
He was flown by LifeNet of New York to Fletcher Allen Health Care, where he was treated for internal injuries and is reported to be stable.
