The Northern New York Community Foundation Youth Philanthropy Council awarded grants totaling $10,000 to nine organizations serving Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties.
Funding for this initiative is provided as a collaborative of the Community Foundation, Watertown Savings Bank and Renzi Foodservice. With today’s grants, the Council has awarded a total of $22,500 grants. The following grants were approved at the Community Foundation’s quarterly board meeting today:
Children’s Home of Jefferson County - $2,000
To establish a revolving emergency fund for special needs of foster care providers.
New Day’s Children’s Center - $1,700
For the purchase of two bench glider rockers for their infant room.
Family Counseling Services of Northern New York - $1,600
To revitalize the children’s play therapy room.
Maddie’s Mark - $1,000
To help provide children facing illness with their “best day ever.”
Save the River - $1,000
To publish a children’s book to be used in conjunction with area school curriculum.
Fort Drum USO - $1,000
To help refurbish their soldier/family center and purchase additional needed supplies.
Frederic Remington Art Museum - $600
To provide four afterschool art classes.
Hearts for Youth - $600
New equipment for their youth center.
Victims Assistance Center of Jefferson County - $500
To provide food, clothing and other necessary items.
