POTSDAM The village board fired police officer Michael J. Price after a closed-door meeting Monday.
Mr. Price was hired in October. He served in the Navy for 14 years and received an honorable discharge. He was living in Potsdam at the time he was hired at a salary of $42,045.
The village board went into executive session to discuss his employment during Mondays regular meeting. Upon resuming regular session, the board voted 4-0 to fire him.
Mayor Steven W. Yurgartis and police Chief Kevin E. Bates both said they would not comment on personnel issues. Mr. Price was in a probationary period with the department.
