I would like to follow up on the letter More city code troubles from Claudia Lawlor of Wattertown with another issue that bugs people as well.
I have asked our town board or anyone in Henderson as to why we do not have an ethics board at present. No one wishes to touch this hot potato at all.
The majority of all other communities the size or larger than Henderson in the state of New York have given this right to its people to have, but not in Henderson?
I ask two things: Give the people of Henderson one good reason why this should not happen. And give two good reasons why our local government should have this right and not the people. The simplest explanation for me as to the why not, is that by having an ethnics board for the people in Henderson would undermine everything they have done wrong over the past 15-plus years to its voters and taxpayers.
If your local officials cannot hold themselves to a higher standard than any laws that are in place or to their own personal oath of office, silence becomes golden and the answer to all things.
The voters of Henderson are waiting for November elections, too, but our candidates are already rigged and set in place or has been this way for more than 15-plus years in Henderson. Its a lose-lose situation for the good people of Henderson.
