Cape Air will open a ticket office in downtown Ogdensburg on May 1.

Northeast Marketing Manager Jacqueline B. Donohoo said the ticket office will set up at 318 Ford St., which will be vacated by the St. Lawrence Child Care Council and its staff of eight for new accommodations two doors down at 314 Ford St.

“We will have small renovations, paint and carpet and we aim to get these started by the beginning of April,” she said Wednesday. “We will be occupying the print portion of the building.”

The hours of business for the new ticket office will be will Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Job openings will be posted to fill two part-time positions.

The Massachusetts-based commuter air carrier which serves Ogdensburg and Massena international airports has been looking for a downtown location for a ticket office for more than a year.

Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sandra M. Porter was pleased to hear the news.

“I think it’s great that they’re going to have a presence in the downtown area,” she said.

Community Bank owns the building where the ticket office will be.

Cape Air’s Massena ticket office is located at 40 Main St.
