MORRISTOWN – The empty lot on Gouverneur Street next to Morristown Central School may become the location of a bigger village garage this year.
The property was purchased by the village from the county for one dollar Mayor Cheryl A. Shatraw said.
Were looking at the possibility of putting a new village garage there, Mrs. Shatraw said.
We have some plans drawn up but were not even sure what were going to go with, she added.
No dollar figure has been attached to the project, Mrs. Shatraw said.
The goal, if the project goes forward, is to build a garage large enough to house all the villages equipment inside.
Before anything is built, the village plans on cleaning up the property and building a better fence between it and the school.
Morristown Central School Superintendent David J. Glover said he believes the project will enhance the security at the school by allowing more space between the fence and the schools windows.
That will make it easier to students to exit out of the windows in the event of an emergency.
Mrs. Shatraw said more details will be available soon.
Well be lucky to start during the summer, she said.
