Audrey J. Sabins


Audrey Jean Sabins, 73, of Ft. Covington, passed away Thursday (March 28, 2013) at Massena Memorial Hospital. Funeral arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.

Audrey was born May 11, 1939 in Malone, NY the daughter of Raymond & Bertha (Jock) Elmer, and was educated locally. March 4, 1957 she united into marriage with Hubert F. Sabins. Audrey was a dedicated mother and homemaker. With her husbands love to garden, Audrey was there to do the canning, and cooking. She enjoyed camping with her husband and family, as well as playing bingo. Hubert predeceased her on April 3, 2010.

She is survived by her five sons, Fred (Hallie) Sabins of Ft. Covington, Tim (Kathy) Sabins of Bombay, David (Nina) Sabins of Brazil, Todd (Roxanne) Sabins of Wellsville, and Mark Sabins (Donna) Lamica of Malone; three daughters, Karen (Michael) Schomaker of Clinton, Mass., Kelly (Wil) Recore of Brasher Falls, Sherry Sabins and Martha Dray of Danvers, Mass.; one brother Billy Elmer of Macedon; two sisters; Iris of Port Gibson and Judy (Wayne) Jock of Ft. Covington. Also surviving her are two sister-in-laws Sally Elmer Jock of Malone, and Nora Elmer of Brushton, along with 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, Audrey is also predeceased by a son Jackie; daughter Susan; son-in-laws Phil Simpson, Earl Finkelstein; brothers Richard, Raymond, a sister Loretta, and a grandson Sean Maguire.

Family and friends may call at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira, Monday (April 1, 2013) from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Audrey’s funeral service celebrating her life will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date to be announced.

Memorial contributions in Audrey’s honor may be made to the St. Regis Nursing Home, 89 Grove Street, Massena, NY 13662.
