Massena— Margaret “Peggy” Ruddy Lyon expired Thursday March 28, 2013 at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena, New York, where she had been a resident since April 3, 2009. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday April 2, 2013 at the Church of The Sacred Heart at 12:00 noon with Rev. Joseph Elliott presiding. Internment will take place in the spring at Calvary Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. Margaret Ruddy Lyon was born August 6, 1916 in Madrid, New York, the daughter of Jenny (Keegan) and Fredrick Ruddy. Peggy attended Chamberlain Corners one room school house, later Madrid School, and graduated from Norfolk High School. She graduated from CCBI in Syracuse. She was a longstanding and valued employee of Alcoa for over twenty five years. She was also a communicant of the Sacred Heart Church in Massena. Peggy was united in marriage to Fred W. Lyon November 11, 1950 at St. Mary’s Church in Waddington with Rev. Edward Pierce presiding. Fred preceded her in death on November 21, 1991. She is also predeceased by her sister Mary Hammill and brother George Ruddy.

She is survived by two sons; Edward and (Cynthia) Lyon of Potsdam and James and (Nancy) Lyon of Massena, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Scott and (Taylor) Lyon, Kelli and (Jack) Grewell, Jaime, Mark, Brittany and (Jay) Delisle, Brenton and (Andrea) Lyon and Meghann. Margaret’s great grandchildren are Nicholas, Ella, Emme and Owen. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Margaret was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Margaret’s proudest accomplishment in her lifetime was her loving family. Throughout her life she maintained a sincere and simple demeanor that warmed the hearts of many.
