MASSENA – Natalie Lazovsky, 93, formerly of New York City, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the St. Regis Nursing Home where she had been a resident since 2007.
Natalie was born on October 23, 1919, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Michael and Pauline Hurba Radukevich. She graduated from Queens College, NY, and received her Masters Degree from Hunter College in NYC. Natalie married George Lazovsky on July 22, 1944. He predeceased her on January 7, 1998.
She was a legal secretary and a school secretary for many years before becoming a Special Education teacher in Queens. Natalie was a life-long member of the St. Helena Society and the New York Mycological Society. She was also a member of H.A.N.A.C Senior Citizens Center in Astoria, NY, where she once served as Vice President and she volunteered at the Bird S. Coler Hospital on Roosevelt Island.
She was a member of St. John Chrysostom Orthodox Church in Woodside, NY and she was also a Docent at the American Museum of the Moving Image. Natalie loved reading, cooking, all of the arts in NYC, as well as Radio City Music Hall and Coney Island.
Natalie is survived by her children, Christina and Ralph Johns of Potsdam; and George Lazovsky, of Astoria; three grandchildren, Benjamin Johns, Danielle Johns, and Anya Arthur; and two great grandchildren, Quinn and Hayden Arthur.
Natalie was predeceased by her husband and also predeceased by her brother, John Radukevich; and a sister, Nellie Radukevich.
At Natalies request, there will be no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Vladimirs Russian Orthodox Christian Cemetery in Jackson, NJ.
