HERMON Warren A. Dittes, 88, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Kinney Nursing Home in Gouverneur.
Calling hours are Monday, April 1st from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 noon at the Hermon United Methodist Church with Rev. Thomas Jones officiating and burial in Hermon Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Hermon.
Warren was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on June 27, 1924, the son of Walter and Clara Stauss Dittes.
He graduated from Central High School in Sheboygan in 1942. Warren attended Mission House College in Wisconsin until enlisting in the United States Army to serve during WW II. Among the destinations of Warrens service were England, France and the Philippines.
Warren married Mary Sullivan on September 12, 1952 at her parents home in Hermon with Rev. Heatherington officiating.
He was a past member of the Hermon Vol. Fire Department, served ten years on the school board of Hermon-DeKalb Central School, served on the bank board of the First National Bank of Hermon, and played in the Citizens Band of Hermon. Warren enjoyed listening to and playing music and spending time with his family, especially at the family camp on the banks of the Grasse River.
Warren is survived by his wife of sixty years Mary, a daughter Cynthia and Joseph Arabski of Greenville, NY, two sons Wesley J. Dittes of Russell, Richard L. and Susan Dittes of Swanton, Ohio, and four grandchildren Jessica Arabski, Aaron Arabski and his wife Sharon, Andrew Dittes, and Nicholas Dittes. He was predeceased by his parents.
