After allegedly hitting multiple cars lined up outside the Time Warp Tavern, 302 State St., a city man was charged Saturday with aggravated driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.
Watertown police said Luke M. Shaugnessy, 34, of 1217 State St., struck the back of a 2008 Subaru owned by Anthony J. Foster. Reversing from the crash, Mr. Shaugnessy pulled forward in the parking lot, then reversed into a 2008 Kia owned by Brooks Haynes and a 2006 Toyota owned by Christopher J. Spicer, police said.
A police sketch indicated there were no other vehicles in the parking lot at the time of the crashes.
Police said Mr. Shaugnessy then drove to a nearby parking lot on the 100 block of Union Street.
Police said a witness to the second crash, Antonio P. Derrigo, was able to follow Mr. Shaugnessy and take away his keys.
Mr. Shaugnessy was arrested at 6:09 p.m. His blood alcohol content was measured at 0.25 percent, police said. A BAC of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication under state law. Aggravated DWI is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or more.
He was processed and held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment in City Court.
