The state Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance said Monday that it is accepting applications for its Cooling Assistance Program, which helps residents with medical conditions exacerbated by heat.
To be eligible, households must meet 2012-13 HEAP income guidelines and have at least one member who suffers from a documented medical condition that is adversely affected by heat.
To fund the program, the state said, it has set aside $3 million.
Applications for cooling assistance are being accepted at local departments of social services. More information about applying may be found at www.otda.ny.gov/workingfamilies/dss.asp.
