NORFOLK Paul Crocie, 27, West High Street, was charged Saturday by state police with fourth-degree grand larceny in connection with the double sale of an automobile.
Police said Mr. Crocie posted a classified ad on Craigslist to sell his Honda Civic. An unidentified person paid $800 for the vehicle, receiving the license, a key and a handwritten receipt, police said.
The buyer could not take the vehicle from Mr. Crocies property at the time of purchase, so Mr. Crocie agreed to let the buyer keep the car at Mr. Crocies home temporarily, troopers said.
Mr. Crocie then sold the car again for $400, stating that the first buyer had abandoned it, police said. He refused to return the first buyers $800, but told the man that he might be able to get the car back for an additional $400, police said.
Mr. Crocie is scheduled to appear in Norfolk Town Court.
