Plattsburgh – Grenda M. (Czuryla) Chapin, 65, of Malone, formerly of North Bangor, died March 29, 2013 at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma.
Grenda was born December 16, 1947 in Herkimer, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Edmund Dominic and Lorraine Theresa (Mansfield) Czuryla.
She is survived by her husband Dale, four children, five grandchildren and a brother. For 34 years she and her husband Dale owned and operated Blue Top Farm, Inc. in North Bangor, N.Y.
In addition to being a devoted farm wife and mother, she was a fourth-grade teacher at the St. Regis Mohawk School for 14 years and retired in June of 2012.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, April 5 at the Spaulding Funeral Home, 530 East Main St., Malone, N.Y. 12953. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustines Church in North Bangor, N.Y. at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 6. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Spaulding Funeral Home of Malone.
