Can’t stop the intent to harm

With the shootings in Herkimer and Mohawk, gun violence is again in the limelight. This time the weapon of choice was a shotgun, a long gun used for hunting, not an AR-15, but just as deadly. Will Gov. Andrew Cuomo push for a ban on shotguns as well?

Regardless of how many guns you ban or abolish, people with an intent to do harm will always have ready access. In society today, many think that these people can be rehabilitated.

When someone goes forth knowing right from wrong and shoots to kill, it’s murder in the first. Yet prosecutors more times than not plea deal down to second-degree murder, a lesser charge.

Society would rather put these people in jail for life. Now we feed them, pay for their medical bills, provide conjugal visits and educate them to become jailhouse lawyers.

I saw Gov. Cuomo on TV pushing his SAFE Act agenda. Did he even talk to the families of the shooting victims? Maybe he was stumping for governor or president. My condolence to the families of the shooting victims.
