Hammond senior Alyssa Crosby was named to the all-state first team in Class D girls basketball, highlighting a total of 15 players selected from the Frontier League and Northern Athletic Conferencey by the New York State Sportswriters Association.
Crosby averaged 18.6 points, 13.5 rebounds and 3.9 steals per game this season while leading the Red Devils to a 21-3 record, a Section 3 Class D title and a state quarterfinal appearance. She was named the Times All-North Most Valuable Player for the NAC for the second straight year.
Other Class D selections are Courtney Boyea from Chateuagay (fourth team), Alexandrias Lorraine Beard and Hammonds Courtney Bova (fifth team), Copenhagen senior Logan Wheeler and Bridget Beldock of Madrid-Waddington (sixth team), and Heuveltons Maddie St. Pierre (seventh team).
In Class C, Kristin McGraw of Thousand Islands was named to the second team, while Cantons Emma Rexford was chosen for the eighth team. McGraw averaged 17.1 points per game this season and finished her high school career with 1,410 points, a school record for boys and girls.
Zakiya Saunders of Carthage, the Frontier League All-North MVP, made the third team in Class A. Saunders averaged 19.1 points, 11.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 4.9 steals per game this year.
Alisha Jacobs of Massena (seventh team) and Malones Morgan Fountain (10th team) were the other Class A selections.
In Class B, South Jefferson junior Austin Stevens was a third-team selection following a season in which she led the Spartans to a 19-1 record while posting averages 13.8 points and 7.8 rebounds.
Salmon Rivers Abby Kelly (fourth team) and Ogdensburg Free Academys Megan Dodge (ninth team) were also honored in Class B.
