Today should be highlighted on the calendars of north country job hunters, as 65 employers will be showcased at the 2013 Job & Career Expo from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bruce M. Wright Memorial Conference Center, 1291 Faichney Drive.
Employers will offer an array of job opportunities at the fair, with sectors including hospitality and food, retail, health care, manufacturing, construction, human services and educational and financial institutions.
As the largest job fair in Watertown, the expo consistently reels in more than 1,500 people pursuing employment and educational opportunities to start careers. A wealth of part- and full-time positions will be up for grabs at the expo, which is hosted by the Greater Watertown-North Country Chamber of Commerce.
Those seeking employment are encouraged to arrive prepared with a resumé and dressed in professional attire, said Michelle A. Farrell, the chambers director of events.
This will be an opportunity to make a good impression on an employer, she said. First impressions can play a key role in securing an interview.
Staff from educational institutions also will be present to offer guidance for those interested in pursuing new careers. Represented will be Syracuse University, St. Lawrence University, University of Phoenix and Jefferson-Lewis Board of Cooperative Educational Services.
The annual fair in previous years was held at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds arena or the Dulles State Office Building, but organizers decided to host it at the conference center for the first time this year. The newly remodeled center offers plenty of parking.
Were excited about the venue, and we felt this move would be a step in the right direction, Mrs. Farrell said.
