A city woman joins the ranks of nearly two dozen others arrested so far this year by Ogdensburg police for crack cocaine trafficking.
City police said Jamie Lynn Nichols, 29, of 406 New York Ave., was arrested Monday after being indicted in St. Lawrence County Court for two counts each of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Police said she had also been wanted on a city court bench warrant for failure to appear to answer a prior charge of petit larceny and county court bench warrant for violating probation. She had been sentenced in 2009 to five years probation to satisfy a charge of fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, according to county court records. She had been charged then for selling cocaine.
She was arrested Monday after the city police Narcotics Enforcement Unit conducted surveillance on her residence, according to Detective Daniel C. Mousaw. She was taken into custody during a traffic stop.
Ms. Nichols was arraigned in county court and sent to county jail, Canton, without bail.
Mr. Mousaw said her arrest is the 11th crack cocaine-related arrest in the city since February, and more arrests are expected.
