SAFE Act

To The Editor:

What Governor Cuomo is doing instituting the “Safe Act” is wrong at so many levels I scarcely know where to start.

He clearly is not following the Constitution that he has sworn to uphold by pushing this act through via “secret” session without public discussion. Now I learn that he is offering a $500 dollar award if a person tips the police about a person who they think is in possession of an illegal weapon.

That’s right, and you didn’t read this incorrectly. Mr. Cuomo is paying neighbors to spy on neighbors and to turn them in if they “think” they have an illegal gun. He should be called Il Douche not Governor Cuomo. You don’t know who Il Douche is? Look it up; he is Bennito Mussolini who founded the fascist movement in Italy prior to World War II. For those of you that are sixty or older, this is what your Fathers and Mothers fought against; and it all started at the local, then State, then Country level, until it was completely out of hand.

You say this is an over reaction. I don’t think so. If you have watched or read about the rise and fall of the Third Reich then you know exactly to what I am referring. When the German people were interviewed after WW II, it was estimated that the number of Germans that really shared the leadership’s view of the more sinister aspects of the Government was less than 10 percent, but that 10 percent ran the country into a murderous history.

It all has to start somewhere, and then more and more restrictive policies are put into place with little or no input from the citizens. This is what’s happening. Governor Cuomo is breaking the Constitution and with the “Gun Tip Line” is following the current political playbook of playing people against people.

If Mr. Cuomo doesn’t like guns that’s fine; then follow the rule of law and author an amendment to the Constitution just like they did with Prohibition. But none of these anti gun people have the intellectual honesty to pursue the correct legal course of action. No, instead they manufacture their own statistics that are factually incorrect to support the anti gun stance and then stir up the public to push through anti gun state legislation. If people would just do their due diligence on these issues they would know that Mr. Cuomo is “spinning” the data at the best and outright lieing at the worst.

What is most infuriating is that with the number of lawyers and Judges in this country, nobody seems to be launching serious litigation against Mr. Cuomo’s illegal actions. Judges should be judging based on the Constitution, not pursuing a political agenda. Lawyers should be launching law suits.

It seems that everybody is so complacent they aren’t aware or don’t care. Both are wrong. Come on Lawyers, get involved or lose your liberty. Just because Mr. Cuomo doesn’t like a particular gun or magazine doesn’t or shouldn’t make it illegal, and he surely shouldn’t be asking the people of this state to “rat out” each other.
