Mr. and Mrs. Clifton J. Streeter, 60 years


CROGHAN — Mr. and Mrs. Clifton J. Streeter, 6909 William St., observed their 60th wedding anniversary Friday. The couple will celebrate Sunday with a family dinner, held at Savoy Restaurant, Rome.

Mr. Streeter, son of the late Harold Streeter and Berdena Streeter Widkrick, and Carol E. Lehman, daughter of the late Seth and Mary Lehman, were married April 5, 1953, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Beaver Falls, with the Rev. Norman Pusey, pastor, officiating. Honor attendants were Rhea Hunkins, Castorland, cousin of the bride, and the late Duane Streeter, brother of the groom.

Mr. Streeter graduated from Beaver River Central School, Beaver Falls, in 1950 and was employed by the former J.P. Lewis Co., Beaver Falls, and Climax Manufacturing Co., Castorland, until 1953, when he enlisted in the Army. After his discharge in 1955, he worked for Beaverite Products Inc. in Croghan for 38 years, retiring in 1993 as purchasing agent and inventory control manager. Mr. Streeter is a member of Croghan American Legion Post 1663, Beaver River Senior Citizens and the Adirondack Playboys, a country band. He enjoys caning chairs and repairing and refinishing furniture.

Mrs. Streeter graduated in 1951 from Beaver River Central and attended Watertown School of Commerce. She worked in the payroll department at Climax Manufacturing before joining her husband stationed in Camp Polk, La., and Fort Riley, Kan. In later years, she was a receptionist and switchboard operator for Carthage Machine Co. and Beaverite Products Inc. in Beaver Falls, retiring in 1993. Mrs. Streeter is a member of Croghan American Legion Post 1663 Auxiliary, Lewis County Hospital Auxiliary and Beaver River Senior Citizens and works at the local bloodmobile. She enjoys knitting and interior decorating.

Mr. and Mrs. Streeter enjoy traveling, shopping for antiques and spending time with family.

The couple has two sons and daughters-in-law, Kim C. and Valerie, Rome, and Kerry D. and Lisa, Clay; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
