Village of Herrings adopts procurement policy

HERRINGS — The village Board of Trustees approved a procurement policy Monday.

The policy states “a good faith effort shall be made to obtain three quotations.”

Purchases or services worth $500 to $2,999.99 for purchase contracts and public works contracts may have verbal quotes.

Purchase contracts for $3,000 to $9,999.99 must have written or faxed quotes and a written request for proposals.

Any purchase of more than $5,000 must be brought to the board for approval.

Public works contract purchases require written or faxed quotations for $3,000 to $4,999.99 and written or faxed quotes and written requests for proposals for purchases of $5,000 to $19,999.99.

The policy requires documentation of each action taken if the required number of proposals cannot be met or if the contract is awarded to someone other than the lowest bidder.
