The Ogdensburg Kiwanis Youth Baseball and Softball signups will begin today at the Ed Dobisky Visitor Center from 10 a.m. to Noon.

Other scheduled Kiwanis Baseball/Softball registration dates are April 10 (5-7 p.m.), April 11 (5-7 p.m.), April 15 (5-7 p.m.).

The fee is $10 for T-Ball and Farm League, $15 for all other leagues, with a maximum rate of $35.00 per family. The fee is payable at the time of registration. A $5 late fee will be charged to anyone sigining up after April 15.

Please put the Kiwanis website (www.ogdensburgkiwanis.com) on your favorites list. The website will be used for all league updates/cancellations for the season.

The divisions are based on a child’s age as of May 1st and the league choices are: T-Ball(5-6), Tee-Ball/Farm (7), Farm (7-8) Intro to Girl’s Softball (7,8-9), Jr. Grasshopper (9 or 10), Girls Softball (10, 11 or 12), Grasshopper (11 or 12)

The following is a brief description of each league:

T-BALL: A soft, spongy ball that looks like an official baseball is used and placed on an adjustable stand. The season will run from May 8 to June 14. All games are played at Montroy Park on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 5:30 p.m. No score is kept, players are encouraged to have fun, respect their coaches, and learn some basic fundamental of the game.

FARM LEAGUE: A soft, spongy ball just like T-Ball is used, only the coach’s pitch to the kids. The season also runs from May 8 to earlyJune. All games will be played at Montroy Park on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 6:30 p.m. and no scores are kept. Players are encouraged to have fun, respect their coaches, and learn some basic fundamentals of the game.

JR. GRASSHOPPER: An official baseball is used and the players pitch. The season will run from May 7 to the end of June. Games are played at Montroy Park and surrounding communities. Scores are kept and players are encouraged to have fun, respect their coaches, and learn some advanced fundamentals of the game, such as bunting, stealing a base, etc.

GRASSHOPPER BASEBALL: An official baseball is used and the players pitch. The season will run from May 7 to the beginning of July. All games are staged at Montroy Park and surrounding communities and this is first competitive league. Scores are kept and league standings are maintained. Players are encouraged to have fun, respect their coaches and umpires, exhibit good sportsmanship at all times, and learn some advanced fundamentals of the game. (Boys who are still in the 6th grade and are 13 may play Grasshopper ball but are not allowed to pitch.)

INTRO TO GIRL’S SOFTBALL: This league will be an introductory league for girls with the emphasis on learning the game of softball.The season will run from May 7 to the middle of June with games played at Park Street field across from Kennedy school.

Players will be encouraged to have fun, respect their coaches, and learn some basic fundamentals of the game.

GIRLS SOFTBALL: This league is for girls only and the ball is pitched underhand. The season will run from May 7 to the beginning of July. Games are played at Montroy Park and surrounding communities and the score is kept. (Girls who are still in the 6th grade and are 13 may play softball but are not allowed to pitch.)

I/we assume all risks and hazards incidental to the conduct of the activities and transportation to and from the activities. I/we do further hereby release, absolve, indemnify and hold harmless the Kiwanis Club of Ogdensburg and/or Kiwanis International, the organizers, sponsors and the supervisors, any and all of them. In case of injury to my/our child, I/we waive all claims against the organizers, sponsors, or any of the supervisors appointed by them. I/we likewise waive, to the extent not covered by liability insurance, any claim against any person transporting my/our child to and from the activities. I/we will furnish a certified birth certificate of the above named upon request of Leagues officials.
