The Jefferson County Industrial Development Agency is reaching out to Canadian businesses by hosting workshops Wednesday and Thursday in Ontario on How to Do Business in the United States.
Those workshops are a part of the agencys ongoing efforts to increase cross-border commerce, and similar workshops will be planned by the agencys Ontario counterparts for businesses in Jefferson County interested in expanding in Canada.
David J. Zembiec, the agencys deputy director, said in a written statement the workshops goal is to provide an overview for businesses to decide if they would like to further consider expanding here.
Canada and the United States are each others largest trading partners, and we believe that southern Ontario and Northern New York have a unique opportunity to increase mutually beneficial commerce in both directions across the Thousand Islands International Bridge, he said.
Our respective citizens regularly cross the border back and forth into each others communities for shopping, recreation and cultural activities.
