Richard J. Carlisle


WATERTOWN — Richard J. Carlisle, 72, of Huntington Street passed Friday, April 5, 2013 at home surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.

Born December 12, 1940 in Alexandria Bay, NY he was the son of the late Ralph Carlisle and the late Ruth M. Scott Carlisle and he attended Alexandria Central School.

He married Shirley J. Dunn on October 10, 1962 at the Reformed Church of the Thousand Islands, Alexandria Bay. Mrs. Carlisle died January 30, 2007.

Mr. Carlisle was the owner and operator of Carlisle Music in Watertown and a musician, performing with Northern Express with his wife, who was the drummer.

He was a member of the Watertown Baptist Temple.

Mr. Carlisle enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing guitar, singing, writing music, watching Western movies, watching birds, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include four daughters and a son-in-law, Shirley and Robert Howard, Ruth Gonzalez and her companion, Rick Morse, Gail Tripp, Joan Carlisle and her companion, Stu Salisbury, all of Watertown, Grandchildren, DeOnna Hairston, Shalana Storino, Quinton Tripp, Hayden Tripp, OnnaLisa Lieberman, Jeffrey Lieberman, Jr., Casandra Lieberman, Morgan Howard, Savanah Howard, Brianna Howard, Chelsea Howard, Jasmin Howard Ryan Jeffers, Corey Gonzales and Amanda Gonzales; great grandchildren, Brayden Davis, Logan Hairston, Peyton Hairston, Bailey Connelly, Sophiee Buffington, Lilah Buffington, Christopher Jeffers and Noah Blasco; one sister, Sandra Pike, OK; three brothers and a sister—in-law, Rodney and Marion Carlisle, Dale and Larry, all of Watertown; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Presley, Watertown.

A son, Larry Carlisle and a brother, Leon Carlisle died before him.

The funeral will be 11 am Thursday at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa with Pastor Dewey Stewart III of the Watertown Baptist Temple officiating. Burial will be at Barnes Settlement Cemetery, Alexandria Bay.

Calling hours are Wednesday 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
