Show appreciation for those who serve

We, in America, have so much to be thankful for. We are in a free country thanks to our military forces fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq putting their lives in danger to fight for that freedom. But we also have other forces to thank for our safety. We have right here in our own country the valiant men and women on our local police forces, county sheriffs forces and our state police forces.

Their lives are in danger every time they are on duty. And they act without second thoughts to the danger they are responding to. For instance the case in point, Troopers Scott D. Whitmore and Nichole K. Turck who questioned a glow in the sky and then without hesitation responded to the need of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kennell. Where would that elderly couple be if these brave troopers had not questioned that glow while on duty?

Also the paper said that 16 fire departments responded and fought the fire. Another thing for America to be thankful for, our firefighters whose lives are put in danger every time they respond to a call. And the emergency medical members of those departments who willingly respond without thoughts of the danger they may be walking into.

Recently there was an email being sent around to remind people to say “thank you” to military service people when you encounter them in public. Let’s not stop there. Let’s not only keep all of them in our prayers. Let’s take the time to thank our firefighters, police personnel and our military people when we see them. They are truly our friends and where would we be without them? So let me end with a big “thank you, not only to troopers Whitmore and Turck, but to all of you who serve our country in various services. And God bless you for your service to Him, our citizens and our country.
