LOWVILLE — The 10th annual Snirt Run drew a slightly smaller crowd of ATV enthusiasts than last year, with approximately 3,120 registered participants.

“That’s down about 200,” said Gary R. Stinson, president of the Barnes Corners Sno-Pals snowmobile club. “I think the weather and the snow had a lot to with it.”

Though the weather may have attracted a smaller than anticipated crowd, it created safer riding conditions for the all-terrain vehicle drivers.

“It kept the speeds down,” Mr. Stinson said.

One ATV accident was reported about 2:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Gardner and Borkowski roads on the Lowville-Martinsburg line.

One person suffered undisclosed injuries.

Two incidents of property damage were reported, according to Lewis County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael K. Leviker.
