Two women still in hospitals after Saturday car crash

HARRISBURG — Two drivers, Renee J. Beyer and Deborah Aguirre, remained hospitalized Sunday after a car crash Saturday on Route 12 near Cobb Road.

A nurse supervisor at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, said Mrs. Beyer, Lewis County’s senior planner, was in critical condition.

No specifics were available from the hospital about Ms. Aguirre’s condition.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred at 1:22 p.m. Saturday when Ms. Aguirre, 40, of 1429 Gill St., Apt. 446B, Watertown, swerved across the highway into the path of a car driven by Mrs. Beyer, 39, of 3950 Rector Road, Lowville. Ms. Aguirre suffered injuries to her legs, and Mrs. Beyer suffered a head injury.

Sgt. Ryan J. Lehman of the sheriff’s office said it was too soon to determine whether any charges would be filed.
