OGDENSBURG - A 19-year-old Rochester man was arrested for an alleged drug-related stabbing and robbing of a city man at 8 p.m. Monday.
City police said Olajuwon J. Holt, also known as Fraido, was charged with first-degree attempted assault, first-degree robbery, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana.
Police said Mr. Holt had gone to the home of Michael J. Wells at 1130 Ford St. to buy marijuana. However, when he reached Mr. Wellss home, Mr. Holt grabbed the drugs and approximately $500. When confronted by Mr. Wells, Mr. Holt produced a large, fixed blade knife and stabbed Mr. Wells in both the chest and his side, before fleeing on foot.
Mr. Wells was not at home when police arrived. They said the stabbing was reported at 8:50 p.m., about 20 minutes after the incident occurred. Police said they located him at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center Emergency Room, where he was being treated for two stab wounds: one in the center of his chest and the other on the left side of his abdomen. He was treated at the hospital and released.
Police said they were later able to locate Mr. Holt at 11 p.m. in the upstairs bedroom of a Mill Street home.
At the time of his arrest, Mr. Holt was found in possession of several capsules of oxycodone and over 25 grams of marijuana stored in four sandwich bags.
Mr. Holt was arraigned by city court on $50,000 bail and transported to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility Tuesday afternoon.
State police assisted in the investigation.
