Power has been restored to about 1,600 National Grid customers in Watertown who lost service after a motor vehicle accident at Sherman Street and Barben Avenue.
Company spokeswoman Virginia J. Limmiatis said the accident caused the outage, which affected the citys south and west sides, about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday. She said most customers were restored by about 3:30 p.m.
During the outage, stores in Price Chopper Plaza and other locations along Arsenal Street either had no power or operated on reserve power. Several, including Aldis, closed for a time.
