Captain John R. Tritten, Jr., 62, of LaFargeville passed away unexpectedly April 5th at his home. John was born in Utica, NY and spent his summers in Clayton, NY working at his cousin’s marina, “The Clayton Marina”. He later went on to serve in the US Air Force, stationed at Otis Air Base Cape Cod, MA. After leaving the military, he went on to get his Merchant Marine License, where he spent many years as a tug boat pilot in the Gulf of Mexico, in the New Orleans area and Coatzacoalcos Mexico. His later years were spent back in New York, where he worked on the Hudson River and Erie Canal. John is survived by his wife Lynn and Son John. A Memorial Service will be held April 22nd, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Clayton NY. Reception will follow.
