RAYMONDVILLE — Mr. and Mrs. James Spencer, Raymondville, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary April 4. Their children hosted a celebration at Deer Valley Trails, St. Regis Falls.

Mr. Spencer, son of the late Gerald and Gertrude Spencer, and Jeanette M. Widrick, daughter of the late Jonas and Lucille Widrick, were married on April 4, 1953, at the Naval Chapel in Bainbridge, Md., with Henry D. Mead, chaplain, officiating.

Mrs. Spencer attended Lowville Academy and Central School. She was a homemaker and spent several years volunteering for several organizations. In 2008, she was honored for 25 years of service to Norfolk American Legion Auxiliary Unit 925.

Mr. Spencer graduated from Father Leo Memorial School, Croghan. He served in the Navy from 1952 to 1955 and retired from Reynolds Metals Corp. in 1989. He is a member of the Norfolk American Legion Post 925, where he received the Legionnaire of the Year Award in 2006.

Mr. and Mrs. Spencer are members of St. Raymond’s Catholic Church, Raymondville.

The couple has five daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Mike Leduc, Oswego, Beth and Bill O’Connor, Plattsburgh, Cindy and Roger McNulty, Liverpool, Kim and Steve Davidson, Cairo, and Patti and Paul Cushman, Malone; two sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Laura, Vermont, and Jeffrey and Nancy, Pennsylvania; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A son, Rodney, is deceased.
